Artist Statement

Hello, my name is Evon Lewis, and I am currently pursuing both Associate of Fine Arts degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design. As an artist I am driven by a passion for themes ranging from the traumatic and heartfelt to the comedic and lighthearted. My work mostly utilizes ink pen, oil paints or digital design although that does not mean that I shy away from any other form of media.

My work draws heavily on personal experiences, weaving my memories, emotions, and reflections into visual narratives. I am particularly fascinated by the idea of personifying inanimate objects, giving them life and character to convey stories or evoke emotions. This process allows me to view the world from unique perspectives, finding meaning in the mundane or humor in the unexpected. Art, for me, is more than just a creative outlet—it serves as a healing practice, enabling me to process complex emotions and escape from the weight of everyday life. Through this journey, I aim to create works that resonate with both the joy and struggles of the human experience.

In the end, I hope that my work resonates with viewers and helps them understand that they are not alone in the struggles of life. I believe that art has the unique power to communicate what words often cannot—to serve as a mirror for shared human experiences and emotions. By capturing moments of vulnerability, joy, resilience, or humor, I aim to provide a sense of comfort and validation, encouraging viewers to embrace their own journeys.
